Sustainability vs Climate Crisis – Emerging Solutions Conference

Event Description

Climate crisis and sustainability – two of the most pressing issues of our time. From August 5 to 10, 2025, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in the Emerging Solutions Conference in Copenhagen together with up to 140 other young science enthusiasts.

We warmly invite you to explore current challenges and innovative solutions across various fields and to network with leading scientists and companies.

When and where:
The conference takes place from August 5 to 10, 2025, on the DTU Lyngby Campus near Copenhagen. Over the course of five days, you can expect exciting lectures, interactive workshops, and excursions to relevant research institutions.

Who can participate:
You can! The event is open to all students aged 18 and above, university students, PhD candidates, and young professionals interested in the natural sciences. If you're passionate about sustainable technologies, climate research, or innovative solutions to combat the climate crisis – this is the place for you!

Program highlights:
Our diverse program offers:

  • Expert talks and discussions on topics like artificial intelligence, climate modelling, biomedicine, sustainable architecture, and renewable energy

  • Excursions to research institutions and companies working on sustainable solutions

  • Workshops and networking events to connect with like-minded people and experts

  • Social activities and networking opportunities

Travel grants:

The following travel grants are available for this event:

  • Erasmus+ travel grants: all German residents aged 29 or below (regardless of nationality) are eligible. The point of departure needs to be Germany. All means of travel are allowed, and travel costs of up to 310€ for the round trip can be reimbursed. Travel costs will only be refunded after the conference. You must sign a form verifying your participation during the event to be eligible for reimbursement.
  • Tuborg Fondet travel grants: This grant is available to all residents of Denmark, regardless of nationality. It covers domestic travel within Denmark by train or bus. Please note: funding is limited and grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Travel costs will only be refunded after the conference. Both grants can only be handed out to a limited number of participants. If you register as a German or Danish participant, you automatically apply to one of these travel grants. If you register as an “Other residency” participant, you can not apply for a travel grant.

Join as a Volunteer

Would you like to be more involved in the conference and contribute to its success?
We are looking for motivated volunteers to support the organising team before and during the event.

As a volunteer, you might help with tasks like:

  • Welcoming participants and speakers

  • Assisting with logistics, meals, and materials

  • Supporting workshops and excursions

  • Creating a great social atmosphere

Volunteers participate free of charge and will arrive one day before and stay one day after the conference.
You can still participate in most of the program, and it’s an excellent opportunity to gain experience, meet new people, and contribute to a meaningful event.

If you’re interested in volunteering, write to either UNF or juFORUM before your registration:

Acknowledgment
The climate conference is made possible through the generous support of our sponsors: the European Union via the Erasmus+ programme, Tuborgfondet, and the DUF Europapulje. We are also grateful for the collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark.
